MI Executive Director gives lecture on trade negotiations to Huazhong law school students

As part of an ongoing collaboration between Mekong Institute (MI) and the School of Law, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), P.R. China, Mr. Suriyan Vichitlekarn, MI Executive Director, delivered a lecture on the subject of trade negotiations to HUST students from the School of Law on December 23, 2022.
Attended by more than 20 students, the online lecture centered on inter-relationships between multi-lateral free trade agreements and trade negotiations as well as practical experiences in and tips for trade negotiation. After the session, the students were required to write and submit a journal on trade negotiations.
During the lecture, Mr. Suriyan emphasized that trade negotiations are an important step throughout the complex development, formalization and review of a free trade agreement. He also provided his own experiences and approaches taken in the trade negotiations process. In closing, he took the opportunity to explain the mandate and role of MI in contributing to trade and investment facilitation in the Greater Mekong Subregion.
