December 23, 2019
“Proper utilization of resources contributes to energy efficiency, and energy efficiency ultimately leads to economic growth.”
This was the message of Mr. Sudam Pawar, MI Director for Innovation and Technological Connectivity, at the opening of the the MI-facilitated Promoting Efficient Utilization of Resources and Sustainable Energy in the Lancang-Mekong Region training in Khon Kaen, Thailand.
Held from November 25 to December 6, MI enhanced understanding of 21 representatives from Cambodia, P.R. China, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam on how to better access and profit from efficient energy utilization through exchange of good practices.
The training also included structured learning visits (SLVs) in Bangkok, Thailand, as well as Kunming and Yuxi, Yunnan Province. The SLVs in Isuzu Tri Petch, Karikorn Bank Green Building, Solar PV Micro Grid System at Electric Power Research Institute of Yunnan Power Grid Co., Ltd., 110 KV Huachen Digital Substation and PV Distributed Power Generation System for Rural Area (863 National Sample Project) exposed participants to practical and sustainable strategies applied by high performing energy-intensive industries to promote energy conservation, decrease greenhouse emissions and maximize productivity for increased profits.
At the end of the two-week training, participants built a strong regional support network as each Lancang-Mekong country representative committed to work together and continue the enhancement of energy conservation methods through technological improvements.
The training is part of MI’s commitment to develop sound strategies for efficient utilization of resources in supply and demand management for substantial energy savings and sustainable energy use in the Lancang-Mekong region.
The activity was supported by the People’s Republic of China.
