MI, TICA Address Information Management System

Mekong Institute (MI), in partnership with Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), is organizing the Training Program on Effective and Coordinated Information Management System to Facilitate Investment and Business in the GMS from August 21 to September 1, 2017, at the MI Residential Training Center, Khon Kaen, Thailand.

Seventeen senior government officials and representatives from the private sector from Lao PDR are attending the two-week training of five modules covering essential knowledge points such as how to enhance the use of information to database statistics for the industry and trade.

The training aims to enhance the participants’ knowledge and capacities on information and network security. Another objective of the program is to further the participants' understanding on IT-enabled database designs and statistics to facilitate investment and business systems in the Greater Mekong Sub-region. It will also include structured learning visits in Thailand to highlight the efforts of the country in promoting trade and industry, as well as the development of small and medium-sized enterprises.  

During the program launch, Mr. Sudam Pawar, Director of the Information and Technological Connectivity of MI, encouraged the participants to acquire and further their knowledge in the field to better address challenges encountered in the region. This initiative will assist the participants in creating a network that is expected to provide dialogues and further technological improvement efforts in Lao PDR. 

At the end of the training, the participants are expected to develop action plans that will contribute to the existing national plans on Investments and Business. This initiative also promotes to develop and strengthen a regional network of Industry and Trade in the region.
